Theodore Hoffman Died Monday, July 7
At Farm Home Johnson Township
Resident Ill For A Short TimeTheodore Hoffman, Johnson Township farmer, died suddenly at his home, July 7, after only a few hours illness.
Mr. Hoffman had recently taken over the care of seven orphaned grandchildren, whose father died two years ago, and whose mother, Mrs. Newman, a daughter of Mr. Hoffman, died last week.
Theodore Hoffman was born March 11, 1876, in Plymouth County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Hoffman and spent his entire life here. On February 3, 1904, he was married to Katherine Huss in the Ellendale Catholic church, who preceded him in death as did also a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Newman, who died recently.
Survivors include three sons, Joe of Oyens, Dr. Leonard of Estherville and Ambrose of Galena, Illinois, and 11 grandchildren. He also survived by three brothers, Frank of Seaside, Oregon, John and Leo of Le Mars; three sisters, Mrs. Ted Paul of Currie, Minn.; Mrs. Hubert Nemmers of Mitchell, S. D., and Mrs. Al Cummisky of Mankato, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Ellendale at 9:30 a. m., Friday, July 11, with Father Zeno Reising, celebrant, Father Edward Hoffman deacon and Father Thom subdeacon of the solemn requiem high mass; Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery in Le Mars. Mr. Hoffman was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus.
The remains will be at the home from Thursday afternoon until service time. Wiltgen's are in charge.
