Neva M. Hoffman, 79, of Elk Point, S.D., died Saturday, Feb. 20,1999, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services were held Thursday, Feb. 25, at United Parish Church in Elk Point, with the Rev. Dan Lozer officiating. Burial was in Elk Point Cemetery. Anderson Funeral Home, Elk Point, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hoffman was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Union County, S.D., the daughter of Perry and Ruth McCorkell. She attended school in Westfield, Iowa. She married Leonard L. Hoffman on Feb. 14, 1938, in Yankton, S.D. In 1946, the couple moved to Centerville, S.D., where they owned and operated a hardware, appliance and propane business.
They moved to Sacramento, Calif., in 1960, living in North Highlands and Loomis. They returned to Elk Point in 1995. She was a member of Federated Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Home Extension Club in Centerville and Loomis Basin Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her husband, Theresa S. and Werner Huiras of Savannah, Ga.; and granddaughter, Gretchen D. Huiras; a sister, Irene O. Munger of Auburn, Calif, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard; a sister, Ethyl; twin daughters and a son in infancy.
