Joseph R. Welch, 69, Homer farmer, died at a Sioux City hospital Tuesday (Jan. 16,1973) after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, with Rev. Stanley Stone officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery at Akron. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Larken funeral home.

Mr. Welch was, born. Feb. 7, 1903, at Westfield, where he lived until 1945 when he moved to Homer. He lived in Homer for the rest of his life except for a five-year period when he resided in Ute. He married Margie Anderson Dec. 27, 1945, at Akron. He was a veteran of world war 2 and was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church at Homer.

Survivors a r e his wife; a son, Tom, and a daughter, Margaret, both at home; two brothers, Matthew of Sioux City and Mike of Westfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Darold Taylor and Mrs. Carl Tobin, both of Akron. The Larkin funeral home has charge of arrangements.
