Lucille L. Welch, 86, of Akron, Iowa died Wednesday, December 25, 1996 at the Akron Care Center after a brief illness.

Services were held Saturday, December 28, 1996, at St. Patrick's Catholic. Church, Akron, Iowa with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Jeanne Frerichs was organist. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Akron, Iowa, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron.

Casketbearers were Jack Friske, John Welch, Donald Brundeen, Leonard Welch, Bernard Welch, Steve Welch, Lauren Frisch and Buzz Leekley.

Lucille was born November 27, 1910 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Emory and Emma (Haynes) Lowe. She graduated from Elk Point high school in 1930. She married Frank Welch September 1, 1930 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Mrs. Welch worked as a nurse's aid at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City. They farmed in the Westfield area until retiring to Akron in 1978.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene Welch of Crofton, Nebraska, and Bernard Welch and his wife Isabel of Akron; six grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her step-father, Adolph Dahl; one son, Leonard Welch; and one grandson, Joseph Welch.
