Funeral services for Edward Charles Mattas, 71, Merrill, will be Friday, July 30, at the Mauer funeral chapel with Rev. Robert Salge officiating.

Burial will be in Merrill Hillside Cemetery under direction of the Mauer Funeral Home.

Mr. Mattas, a lifelong resident of the Merrill area and a resident at the Plymouth County Home the last several years, died Tuesday (July 27, 1976) at the county home after a short illness.

Edward Charles Mattas was born Dec. 23, 1904, on a farm near Merrill, the son of Joseph and Mary (Buryanek) Mattas. He was married Dec. 8, 1929, at, Merrill to Martha Kammeier who preceded him in death in 1952. Mr. Mattas was a retired farmer and trucker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and four brothers.

Survivors are a son Ray of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, his twin Mrs. Edith Bauerly of Sioux City, Mrs. Carrie Marienau of Merrill and Mrs. Vema Johnson of rural Le Mars. Also four brothers, Frank and Leslie both of Merrill. Steve of Des Moines, Jack of Sioux City and four grandchildren.
