Raymond E. Hartmann, 63, Anthon, Ia., a Plymouth County native, died Monday (April 16,1990) shortly after arrival at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon. Rev. Carl Peterson officiated. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Grant Township, rural Le Mars. Military graveside rites were conducted by Heeren- Wilken-McHale post 724, American Legion of Brunsville. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Walter Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. Hartmann was born June 17, 1926, near Le Mars, the son of John and Lena (Dirks) Hartmann. He served in the U.A. army from 1945 until 1947. He married Jean Gronemeyer, an Akron native, Nov. 30, 1952 at Craig. The couple farmed near Craig until moving to Anthon in 1964. He was employed at Floyd Valley Packing Co., Sioux City, until retiring in 1986. Mr. Hartmann was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW Post in Cherokee and Meadows Golf Club at Moville.

Survivors include his wife, Jean of Anthon; a daughter and her husband, Lori and Robert Johnson of Sioux Falls; a sister and her husband, Elsie and Melvin Marienau of Le Mars; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Mitchell and Bradley.
