Eric Pearson, 87, a former resident of Akron, died Thursday (April 12, 1990) at the hospital in Wayne, Neb.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. Pastor Wm. Flemr will officiate. Carol Harris will be organist. The congregation will sing two hymns, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Children Of The Heavenly Father".
Eric Victor Pearson was born Nov. 24, 1902, in Ostra Hudby, Norrkoping, Sweden. He came to America as a young man with his parents, living first in Union county, South Dakota, and later in Akron, where he worked for several years maintaining roads in the Akron area.
He was united in marriage June 21, 1933 with Elsie Johnson, daughter of Peter and Anna Johnson in Akron. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church while living in Akron. They moved to Flood wood, Minn, in 1936, where they farmed for many years, later moving to Lake Wales and then Groveland, Fla. Upon retirement in 1970, they moved to Hendersonville, N.C., where he lived until the death of his wife in December, 1989. Following her death, he resided with his son, Clark Pearson in Florida and since early in March of this year has resided in the Wakefield Care Center in Wakefield, Neb. They are active members of Grace Lutheran Church in Hendersonville during the years spent there.
Survivors include three sons, Pastor Keith Pearson of Leigh, Neb., John Pearson, Seal Beach, Calif., and Clark Pearson of Tallahassee, Fla.; seven grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Astrid Franzen of Sioux City, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, and a son Earl Pearson. Relatives in Akron include Arden and Roger Johnson and Phyllis Frisk.
