Her gravestone says Betty J. Parks and has the year of birth as 1932.

Bettie J. Parks, 58, Rock Rapids, formerly of Hawarden and an Akron native, died Tuesday (April 10, 1990) in the Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.

Bettie Parks, the former Bettie Barr, was born May 11, 1931 at Akron, to Hayes and Goldie (Goodrich) Barr. She grew up in Akron, has lived in many different communities, the last six years at Rock Rapids.

Survivors include two sons, James and Calvin Cotney, both of Thomasville, Ga.; one daughter, Ada Cotney of Orlando, Fla.; one grandson; her mother, Goldie Barr of Hawarden; one brother, Robert E. Barr of Knoxville, la.; and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Maurine) DeJager of Hawarden and Mrs. Earl (Frances) Newman of Mountain Home, Ark.
