James Hardacre, 69, Le Mars, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 1990, at a Las Vegas, Nev. hospice.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church of Christ in Le Mars. The Rev. Robert Grupp officiated. Burial was in the Kingsley cemetery, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. A memorial service will be held Feb. 27 in Las Vegas.
Mr. Hardacre was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Britton, S.D. to James and Laura (Steffen) Hardacre. He married Evelynne "Sammy" Sampson Jan. 14, 1947 in Le Mars. She preceded him in death Feb. 17 of last year. He was a 25-year employee of the Le Mars Daily Sentinel and a 35-year member of American Legion Wasmer Post 241, Le Mars. He served in World War II with Company K. He was a member of "the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars.
Survivors include a son, Douglas "D.J." of Las Vegas; two brothers, Joseph and Warren, both of Le Mars; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Esther) Rickabaugh of Minnetonka, Minn, and Mrs. Eldon (Josephine) Small of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
