Earl W. Hultgren, 71, 1906 Leisure World, Mesa, Ariz., died Nov. 12, 1992 at the Veterans Hospital in Phoenix after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27. 1992, at Victory Lutheran church in Mesa, Ariz. Burial will be at Victory Lutheran church in Mesa, Ariz. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa after a military graveside service. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mountain View Memorial Gardens Mortuary, in Mesa.

Mr. Hultgren was born Feb. 22, 1921 near Akron, Iowa, son of Elmer and Adina (Ericson) Hultgren. He grew up on a farm in Union county, South Dakota. He married June Russell, Nov. 12, 1943 in Ida Grove, Iowa. He was a B-24 bomber pilot and First Lt. in the army air corps, serving in North Africa and Italy during World War II. After being injured, he returned to Ida Grove to resume his partnership with his brother, Russell, in Hultgren Implement, where they worked together 23 years. He became a life insurance agent for Massachusetts Mutual and moved to Brainerd, Minn., where he lived from 1968 to 1978. He and his wife then retired and moved to Leisure World in Mesa, Ariz. Mr. Hultgren was a member of the Ida Grove American Legion and the Purple Heart and Disabled Veterans in Brainerd, Minn. He received distinguished flying cross.

Survivors include his wife, June of Mesa; two daughters, Mary Jo Van Drake of Plymouth, Minn, and Ann Hultgren-Ryan and her husband, Bill of Winnipeg, Manitoba; a son Jon Hultgren and his wife, Dorothea of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Katie Van Drake and Josh Van Drake, both in Minnesota and Kelly Hultgren of Phoenix; two sisters, Marie Heeren of Akron, and Marian Sykes of Milford, Iowa; two brothers, Kenneth Hultgren of Akron, and Russell Hultgren of Ida Grove; and many relatives and friends. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Barrow Neurological Institute, 350 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85013.
