Mae Lamoureux, 89, of Akron died Monday, Oct. 25, 1993, at the Akron Care Center after a brief illness.
Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron with Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Hawarden. Visitation was held at Schroeder Funeral home Tuesday.
Pallbearers were Norbert Isert, Paul Lamoureux, Richard Coyle, Floyd Lennon, Harold Stephenson, and Jack Mclnnis.
Mrs. Lamoureux was born July 3, 1904, in Sioux County, rural Hawarden, the daughter of Peter and Hannah (Westergard) Jepsen. She graduated from Hawarden High School and attended Westmar College in Le Mars and Morningside College in Sioux City. She taught in rural schools in Plymouth and Sioux counties and in elementary grades at Ashton, Sergeant Bluff, and Westfield. She married Laurence Lamoureux Dec. 15, 1926, in Akron. They lived in Akron, Hawarden, Sioux City, Boyden, and Sheldon. He died in 1962. She retired from teaching in 1969, after 36 years, and moved to Akron. Mrs. Lamoureux was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. .
Survivors include a sister, Marie Mclnnis of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Julia, Anna, Nellie, and Christine; and a brother, Louis.
