William M. Milbrodt, 71, Colorado Springs, Colo., an Akron native and former area farmer, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1991 in a Colorado Springs Hospital.

Services were Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Sleepy Eye, Minn. Rev. James Liggett, Jr. officiated. Burial with military rites were in Sleepy Eye, under direction of O’ Hare Strum Funeral home in Sleepy Eye.

Mr. Milbrodt was born May 15, 1920, at rural Akron, son of Herman and Meta (Frerichs) Milbrodt, Sr. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. army, Co. A., 260th Infantry, 65th Div. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He married Lois A. Mclnnis Oct. 1, 1944 at Akron. The couple farmed near Akron and Hinton. They moved to Sleepy Eye in 1957, where he was a city in.- specter until retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran church in Colorado Springs and a former member of St. John's Lutheran church in Sleppy Eye. He was a member of the American Legion, Benjamin A. Remmele Post 7 of Sleepy Eye, and the VFW and DAV in Colorado Springs. He was a woodworker and a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Colorado Springs; a son and his wife, Joseph and Deborah of Colorado Springs; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Ken Lang of Springfield; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Henry of Sioux Falls, S.D., George of Hinton, Paul of Moville, Robert of Sioux City and Charles of Akron; five sisters, Ruth Huebrock, Hawarden, Mrs. Rodney (Dorothy) Lane of Meckling, S.D., Mrs. Leo (Vera) Hanson of Elk Point, Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Miller of Rock Valley, and Mrs. Jim (Edith) Small of Akron; his mother-in- law, Marie Mclnnis of Akron; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a son, Gerald.

Pallbearers were Lester and Gilbert Maas, Charles Haug, Vern Henrichs, Howard Engholm, John Echslein and Ray Tauer, and his six grandsons.
