Caskey, Charles Sr. 1889 - 1972

Funeral services for Charley Caskey, Sr., age 83, were held Monday at 10:30 a.m., May 22, at Westside Church of Christ, Rev. Dean Orris officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. Pall bearers were: Eldon Caskey, Roger Caskey, Dick Caskey, Danny Caskey, Steve Caskey and, Jack Harkness all grandsons.

Charles "Caskey, Sr. was born into this life in Clarksville, Iowa on April 6,1889, and he passed to his eternal reward at the Akron Hospital on May 18,1972 at the age of eighty-three years, one month and twelve days. Mr. Caskey had been living in the Akron Nursing Home for a short period of time, and his health had been failing him for some time. On November 16, 1907, he was united in marriage to Carrie Ann Button at Elk Point, S.D. To this fine marriage were born 9 sons and 4 daughters. Charlie, as he was affectionally known to everyone, and Carrie, his beloved wife, spent most of the years together in the Akron and Westfield area. They farmed for many years and in the year 1953 they left the farm and moved to town. Charlie was then employed for several years by the city of Akron. He then retired.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, August 18, 1966.

Left to mourn his passing are four sons: Charles, Jr. of Akron, Harold of Elk Point, S.B., Eldon of Sioux City and Darrel of Westfield. Also left are three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Talbott of Elk Point, Mrs. William Harkness and Mrs. Jim Hughes of Sioux City. Also left behind him is a sister, Mrs. R. B. Cole of Des Moines, 30 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
