Sandra “Mickey” Caskey, 65

Sandra ʻMickeyʼ Caskey of Akron, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007 at her residence in Akron. Funeral services were held Monday, April 9 at the Carlsen

Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron with the Rev. Dawn Quame of Immanuel Lutheran Church offi ciating. Following the funeral, Mickey was cremated and inurnment services will follow.

Sandra “Mickey” was born Aug. 8, 1941 in Hugo, OK to Edgar Mason and Mary Joanne (Dennis) Stell. As a young girl she had lived in Florida, New York, and Texas. Mickey graduated from high school and later in life attended Sioux Empire College in Hawarden. Mickey and Richard Mell were united in marriage in the early 1960ʼs. To this union three children were born, Richard, Christa, and Brian. Mickey raised her family in Pocahontas, IA. She had worked as a dental technician for several years in Fort Dodge, IA. She then moved to Hawarden and later to Akron. She lived in Sioux City where she worked doing home health care for a few years.

Mickey and Douglas Caskey were united in marriage Aug. 15, 1984 and they made their home in the Akron and Westfi eld areas. When her daughter Christa lived in Akron, she enjoyed caring for her granddaughter, Michele.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Douglas Caskey of Akron; three children, Richard Trevor Mell of Pipestone, MN, Christa Lee Walderbach of Bentonville, AR, and Brian Howard Mell of Iowa City, IA; her father, Edgar Stell of Venice, CA; her mother, Mary Joanne Murphy of Canyon City, CO; three brothers, Ron Stell of Phoenix, AZ, Robert Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO, and Joe Massengale and his wife Paula of Colorado Springs; a sister, Roseanne Barnes of Enid, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Stell.
