Fern Elaine Wright

Fern Elaine (Tone) Wright, 69, of LaHabra, Calif., died May 10, 1992 of a brief illness.

Services were held May 15, at Memorial chapel. Pastor D. Anderson officiated. -Internment was in the Rose Hill Memorial Park in LaHabra.

Mrs. Wright, the former Fern Elaine Tone, was born July 18, 1922, at Akron, Iowa to Elsa and Grace Tone. She was raised by an aunt, who she called Mom, Mrs. Fern Rice. She attended the Tucker, Pleasant Hill and Searls country schools. She graduated from the Sgt. Bluff, Iowa high school. She married Eldon Wright May 24, 1942 in Compton, Calif. During World War II, while her husband served in England, she worked for the government; first in a machine shop and then as staff driver for chaplains. She was a charter member of the American Security Council National Advisory board, and the President Task Force. She spent many years as a volunteer at the Apple Valley hospital and home for retarded children.

Survivors include her husband, Eldon of LaHabra, Calif.; a son, Laine; and a brother, Ransom Tone of Illinois; also many friends and former schoolmates in the Akron area.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Fern Rice, her parents, Elsa and Grace Tone; three sisters, Hope, Ruth, and Naomi; and three brothers, Barton, Alfred and Gerald.
