Sophia Johnson

Sophia Johnson, 83, of Craig, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1992, at her home.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran church in Craig. Rev. Beth Graham officiated. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery at Craig, under Direction of Mauer- Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pallbearers were Gregory Schlichte, Melvin Plueger, Lowell Hillrichs, Gerald Westhoff, David Moller, and Keith Asseln.

Mrs. Johnson was born June 6, 1908, in Germany, daughter of Fred and Wilhemina (Jahn) Beeck. She married Carl R. Johnson June 27, 1928, in Merrill. She was a homemaker. Mr. Johnson died in 1962. Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. John's Lutheran church in Craig.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Marienau and her husband, Clarence of Sioux Falls; a son, Darrell Johnson and his wife, Marlene, of Burbank, S.D.; four brothers, Henry Beeck, Albert Beeck and his wife, Betty, Emil Beeck and his wife, Charlotte, and Alvin Beeck, all of Akron; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; and five brothers.
