Funeral services for S. Forrest (Frosty) Akers, 59, Chicago, a former Akron resident who died Monday at a Chicago hospital after a brief illness, were at 10 a.m. Friday at Wesley Methodist Church it Akron. Burial was in Riverside cemetery there, Pallbearers were Grant Gassman Porter Maynard, Russell Waterbury, Gerald Smith, R. D Clark and Lovay Lamoureux

Local relatives and friends alike were grieved and shocked to learn of the passing of Forrest Akers, of Chicago, Ill., Monday, August 23, in a hospital there following a brief illness of cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of 58 years, 10 months' and 21 days.

S. Forrest Akers was born October 2, 1904, at Plainview, Nebr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. B. Akers. He came to Akron with his parents in 1918, when his father became agent for the Chicago, Milwaukee , St. Paul and Pacific railroad here . He received his early education here and later served as clerk for his father in the depot. On January 1, 1928, he was united in marriage with Miss Arta Anderson, of this city. The moved to Chicago 32 years ago, Where he took a position as an accountant for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Co., and had since continued to achieve added responsibility as a company employee. Through his pleasant personality and an unfailing sense of humor and good nature, Forrest gained many friends here during boyhood day and through the passing years, all of whom extend sincere sympathy to his wife, daughter, parents, sisters and other relatives in their bereavement. Mr. Akers was a member of the Methodist Church, North Shore Lodge 937, A. F. & A. M., Shrine Chanters Medina temple and Skokie Shrine Club, In Chicago.

Survivors include his wife, Arta; a Daughter, Mrs. William Gillock of Chicago; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Akers, of Grover, S. D.; Mrs. Carrie (Eldon) Brady, of Grand Junction, Iowa, and Mrs. Lucile (D. G.) Ross, of Akron, a half-brother, Orlan Akers, and two grand-daughters.

His mother preceded him in death here a number of years ago.

The body arrived in Akron Thursday From Chicago and funeral services were held in Wesley Methodist church Friday morning, Rev. G. S. Bruland, from Hawarden, officiating in the absence of Pastor Donald Roberts. Dick Smith was vocalist and Mrs. Orin Harris was accompanist. Casket bearers were Porter Maynard, R. D. Clark, Geral Smith, Grant Gassman, Russell Waterbury and Lovay Lamoureux. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery under the auspices of Freedom Lodge, No. 434, A. F. and A. M.

Relatives and friends who came from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Akers, Grover, S. D.: Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Brady, Miss Sharon Brady, Mr. and Mrs. John Brady, all of Grand Junction, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Raben, of Rapid City, S. D.; Mr. Charles Morse, Tilden, Nebr.; Mrs. Ada Jordan, Onida S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Orlyn Akers, Pontiac, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. George Sawyer, Hawarden; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stevens, Sioux City; Mr. Carl Isgren, Balaton, Minn. Also two co-workers and close friends of “Frosty’s” Mr. Charlie Morris, and Mr. William A. Stegman, of Chicago.
