Lamoureux, Opal Madolin 1906 - 1992

Opal Madolin Lamoureux, 86, a lifelong Akron resident, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1992, at the Akron Care Center of a long illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron. Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Akron, under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Calvin Rozell, Roger Rozell, Greg Buum, Gary Buum, Gordon Buum, Michael Rollins, Keith Rollins, Brian Rollins, Allen Clarey, Corwyn Clarey, Timmothy Clark, Mark DeBruin, Jack Miller, Jr., Kevin Miller, Steven Lamoureux, Dennis Laamoureux, Bruce Lamoureux and Joe Lamoureux.

Mrs. Lamoureux was born Sept. 9, 1906 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Rodvold)Ferris. She lived in Akron her entire life. She married Clifford E. Lamoureux Nov. 26, 1925 in Akron. He died in February 1988. She worked at the Akron Creamery for many years and owned the Trio Cafe in Akron for two years. She worked, for many years for Otis Radio in Hawarden. In 1987, she moved to the Akron Care Center. Mrs. Lamoureux was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron, and a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Akron.

Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Dolores and Achie Rozell of Sioux City, Lavonne and Wayne Buum, Mary and John Rollins and Ruth and Jack Miller, all of Akron, and Cleone and Stanley DeBruin of Larchwood; 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Arnold and Dennis; a brother, Harold Ferris; a sister, Evelyn Gould; and a great-grandson, Jeremiah Lamoureux.
