Florence Boyd

Florence Boyd, 81, of Yankton, died Oct. 10, 1992, at Sacred Heart hospital in Yankton.

Funeral services were held Oct. 14 at the Congregational church in Mission Hills, S.D. Burial was in the Mission Hill cemetery, under direction of the Ray Funeral Chapel in Yankton.

Mrs. Boyd was born Oct. 20, 1910 to Walter E. and Annie (Parker) Oaks in Plymouth county, Iowa. She graduated from the Westfield high school. She married Bernie Boyd, Oct. 20, 1930, in Le Mars, Iowa. She worked at Newburry's and she ran a grocery store in Mission Hill. She also managed a cafe in Lake Andes and was a volunteer at Sacred Heart hospital and Sister James nursing home for many years. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, Senior Citizens and Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her husband, Bernie of Yankton; one son, Robert Boyd of Yankton; and one sister, Gertrude Waterbury of Akron. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
