Mrs. George (Opal) Anderson 85, of Kingsley, Iowa, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1992, at Colonial Manor nursing home in Kingsley.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the First Lutheran Church in Kingsley. The Rev. Michael Gruhn officiated. Burial was in the Kingsley cemetery under direction of the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Mrs. Anderson, the former Opal Parker, was born March 29, 1907 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Pete and Minnie (Mann) Parker. She attended rural school in the Akron area. She married George H. Anderson, Sept. 20, 1927 in Akron. They farmed in the Akron and Kingsley areas until 1947 when they purchased an appliance store in Kingsley. Mr. Anderson died May 23, 1992. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the First Lutheran church in Kingsley, Leah circle of the church and the Altar Guild. She taught Sunday school and served as secretary and statistician for 11 years. She was a member of the Kingsley Home and Garden club, and served as leader of the Junior Garden club. She had been a resident of Colonial Manor since 1989.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Vern and Jeannine of Kingsley; a daughter, Joyce and Nick Riser of Sioux City; a sister, Pearl of California; four grandchildren, Alan Anderson, Pam Anderson, Mark Riser and Nancy Smith; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Irene Parker of Akron.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Lone; and a sister, Ruby Peters
