August M. (Buddy) Borchers, 71, of Le Mars, died Friday, May 1, 1992, at Floyd Valley hospital, after being stricken at his home.

Services were Tuesday at St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars. Rev. David Kramer officiated. Burial was in Memorial cemetery, under direction of Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.

Mr. Borchers was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Preston township, Plymouth county, Iowa, son of August and Freida (Martfeld) Borchers. He married Lois Stabelfeld, Sept. 23, 1947, in Sioux City. He was a lifelong Plymouth county resident. He served in the army during World War II and retired from farming in 1977.

Mr. Borchers was a member of St. John's American Lutheran church, Le Mars, the Heeren-Wilken-McHale Post 724 of the American Legion in Brunsville, Iowa, and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Borchers of Le Mars and Randall Borchers of Omaha; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Dennis Hargens of Le Mars; nine grandchildren, Justin, Jason, James, John and B.J. Borchers, and Kristi, Jason, Mike and Shari Hargens; two brothers and their wives, Fred and Regina Borchers of Le Mars and Raymond and Joan Borchers of New Carollton, Md.; a sister, Alice Heeren of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Clara Heeren; and two brothers, Walter and Edwin.
