Elwood Klapprodt

Elwood F. Klapprodt, 81, Jefferson, S.D. died Monday, March 30, 1992, at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point after a long illness.

Services were at the Westfield Congregational church in Westfield. Rev. Chandler Welch of the United Parish in Elk Point, officiated. Burial was in the Westfield cemetery under direction of Christy Morningside funeral home in Sioux City.

Mr. Klapprodt was born Sept. 17, 1910 in Humboldt, S.D. and moved to Windom, Minn., at the age of 17. He married Verda E. Hummel Sept. 21, 1940 in Windom. The couple made their home in Windom until 1963, when they moved to Jefferson. He farmed and also worked for Sioux City Brick and Tile for 16 years, retiring in 1972.

Mr. Klapprodt was a member of the United Parish in Elk Point, the Elk Point Square Dance club, Siouxland Country Music Association and Country Jamboree.

Survivors include his wife, Verda of Jefferson; a son and his wife, Wayne E. Klapprodt and Dorinda of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Barbara L. Reese and Gary of Jefferson, S.D.; six grandchildren, Cherylynn, Jeffrey and Aaron Klapprodt and Joleen, Jeremiah and Jason Reese; and a half brother, Marvin Klapprodt of Windom, Minn.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; and a half sister.
