Earl H. Hummel

Earl H. Hummel, 82, of Jefferson, S.D., died Thursday (July 23,1987) at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Congregational church in Westfield, Iowa. Rev. Donald Greenough, of United Parish of Elk Point, officiated. Burial was in the Westfield cemetery under the direction of Berkemier funeral home in Sioux City.

Mr. Hummel was born Aug. 25, 1904, in Milnerville, Iowa. He lived in Milnerville-Westfield area where he farmed until 1949 when he moved to Sioux City. He was employed at Swift & Co. for eight years and moved to Jefferson in 1954.

Survivors include two sons, Roger of Jefferson and Robert of Sioux City; two brothers, Floyd and Thomas, both of Elk Point; three sisters, Mrs. Elwood (Verda) Klapprodt, Mrs. Jane Rosenbaum and Mrs. Sylvia Rosenbaum, all of Jefferson; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
