Former Le Mars Woman Died August 23 In Home At Hospers
Death came to Mrs. John Bergsma of Hospers on Thursday evening, August 23, after an illness of several months, says the Alton Democrat.
Mrs. John Bergsma, nee Susan Tamminga, was born in Friesland, the Netherlands, on January 7, 1880, and at the time of death was 65 years and 7 months old. As a child
she came to America with her parents and the family settled at Le Mars. Here she grew to young woman-hood. On January 3, 1905, she was married to John Bergsma.In 1908 they moved to Hospers where she lived until the time of death. Two sons were born to this union, James, with the U. S. Navy at New Guinea and Dick Homer of
Sheldon, who with her husband survive. One sister, Mrs. John Wallinga of Sheldon and one brother, Jake Tamminga of Remsen, are left to mourn the deceased.Funeral services were held from the home on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. G. Doctor of the First Reformed churchy officiating. Special music was rendered by Mrs. A. Vander Berg and Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Johnson.
Interment was made in the Sheldon Cemetery.
