Ray Adams Succumbs To Brief Illness

Akron Register-Tribune: Coming as a grievous shock to many friends was word of the death of Ray E. Adams, prominent farmer of Portland Township, as they were not aware of his serious illness. He was taken to the Akron hospital last Friday morning for treatment for heart and kidney trouble, and passed away Monday morning, August 27, 1945, at the age of 51 years, 5 months and 17 days.

Raymond Edward Adams was born March 9, 1894, at Tripp, S. D., the oldest son of Fred E. and Etta Adams. The family moved to Illinois, residing there about a year, after
which they moved to Akron, Iowa, and lived here ten years, he attending the country schools of this vicinity. Mr. Adams enlisted in the U. S. army, serving on the Mexican
border and in World War I. In 1920 he was a military instructor at Iowa City, Iowa, holding the rank of lieutenant.

Mr. Adams was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Harris of Akron, July 25, 1921, in Sioux City, and resided in Iowa City for about a year, and have since made their home near Akron, engaging in farming. One daughter, Miriam, came to bless their union.

Those surviving, besides his wife and daughter, Mrs. Miriam E. Hemmingsen, are three sisters and four brothers. They are: Mrs. Ethel Harris and Mrs. Myrtle McCorkell of Akron; Mrs. Elsie Brest of Moore, Montana; Claude and Fred of California; James of Sioux City and Arthur of Hobson, Montana. Preceding him in death were his father and mother and two sisters, who died in infancy.
