Pastor A. F. Zenk dies at Hospital; rites set Saturday

Pastor Arnold F. Zenk, 79, longtime Lutheran minister in Plymouth county died Wednesday at Floyd Valley hospital after a 3 1/2 year illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for over three weeks.

Rev. Zenk was born April 17, 1888, in Amboy, Minn., the son of the late August and Rosina Zenk. His marriage to Anna Elisa Buethner took place in Mott, N. D., June 11, 1915.

He had held pastorates at Dickinson, N. D.; Marriatta, Minn.; Garrison, N. D.; Merrill; Lane, S. D.; Hull; Winthrop, Minn.; and at St. Peter's church, Brunsville, for a number of years until his retirement to Le Mars in 1957.

Funeral services will be held at St. John American Lutheran church in Le Mars, Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. L. L. Belk and Rev. A. Imbrock will officiate and burial will be in the Brunsville cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. An 8 p.m. prayer service will be held Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Elisa Zenk, Le Mars; two daughters, Mrs. Elma Jewett, and Mrs. Dorothy DeBoer, both of Le Mars; four sons, William of Hull, Arnold of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Robert of Le Mars and Eugene of Denison; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild, and a brother, Ted Zenk, Amboy, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; an infant son, Francis, and two sisters.
