John J. Vander Schaaf, 65, of Sioux
City, died at an Elk Point retirement
home following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at the First church of
Christ at Akron. Rev. Dave Galloway
will officiate. Burial will be at the Le
Mars Memorial Cemetery under the
direction of Berkemier Funeral Home.

Mr. Vander Schaaf was born March
26,1916, at Sioux Center. He married
June Bensley in 1939 in Le Mars.

Mr. Vander Schaaf served in the United
States army during World War 2.

Following military service the couple
lived at Le Mars for several years.
They later farmed at Westfield. Mrs.
Vander Schaaf died in 1969.

Mr. Vander Schaaf was a member
of V.F.W Post 281 in Sioux City.

Survivors are six sons, Michael and
Steven M. both of Sioux City, Russell of
Akron. John of Denver, Colo., Paul of
Kingsley, and David of South St. Paul,
Minn., two brothers, Urban of Wins-
low. Neb. and Anthony of Reseda,
Calif.; three sisters. Mrs. Jessie Williamsteen
of Doon, Mrs. Garrett Gerritsen
of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Mrs.
C. D Wassenoors of Lake wood, Calif.;
and 14 grandchildren.
