Max W. Bennett, 65, Sioux City, a
widely known former restaurateur,
died Sunday (July 17, 1977) at a Sioux
City hospital of a sudden illness. He
was taken there after being stricken at
his home.

He was born July 8,1912, in Sioux City
and attended schools there. He married
Anne Ivanusic on May 17, 1935, at Le
Mars, and she died on Dec. 17,1976.
Mr. Bennett owned and operated the
Arcadia cafe at 14th and Pierce streets
for 30 years. He retired in 1974.
He was a member of Tyrian lodge
508, AF & AM; Sioux City consistory
and the Abu Bekr Shrine temple and
was a former member of the Iowa
Restaurant Assn.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Diane
Sloan of Sioux City; a son, Kurt of Lake
Villa, Ill.; a brother. Homer of Custer,
S.D.; two sisters, Bernice Bennett of
Sioux City and Mrs. Helen Heinemann
of Dakota City; his mother, Mrs. Ethel
Bennett of Sioux City, and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday
at the Heaton-Westcott funeral
home with the Rev. Terry Graham,
pastor of the Open Bible church in
South Sioux City, officiating. Burial will
be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
