Mrs. Joe Nilles, 84, of Remsen, died
Monday (July 18, 1977) in Plymouth
Manor Care center in Le Mars
following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday
in St. Mary's Catholic church in Remsen.
Rev. Richard Birdsall will officiate.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The rosary will be recited by the
Christian Mothers and the Ladies
Catholic Order of Foresters at 3 p.m.
and by the parish at 8 p.m. Wednesday
at the Fisch funeral home in Remsen.

Mrs. Nilles, the former Catherine
Hoffmann, was born April 20, 1893, in
Luxemburg. She came to America at
age 16 and had lived most of her life in
the Remsen area.

She married Nick Stoffel in 1913. He
died in Jan. 29,1944. She was married
to Mr. Nilles April 18, 1949. He died
June 9,1956.

She was a member of St. Mary's
Catholic church at Remsen, the Ladies
Catholic Order of Foresters, the
Christian Mothers and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars (VFW) auxiliary.

Survivors are three sons, William
Stoffel of Menomonie, Wis., Jack Stoffel
of Remsen and Andy Stoffel of Las
Vegas; four daughters, Mrs. Martha
Goergen of Granville, Mrs. Richard
(Elsie) Carney of Colorado Springs,
Colo., Mrs. Henry (Agnes) Kritzer of
Sioux City and Mrs. Marvin (Octavia)
Weiler of Remsen; 47 grandchildren;
and numerous great-grandchildren.
