BASIL HOFFMAN, 61, OF WESTFIELD DIES AT AKRON HOSPITAL

Funeral services for Basil Hoffman, 61, of Westfield, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Akron with Rev. John Schissel officiating.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home of Akron.

Mr. Hoffman died Wednesday evening at the Akron hospital following a long illness. He was born on Aug. 9, 1906, in Plymouth County and had lived in Westfield all of his life.

He married Gladys Campbell on Feb. 14, 1927, in Sioux City. He did well drilling and repair work in Westfield, and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church at Westfield.

Survivors are his wife, two sons, Daryled of Westfield, Louis of Elk Point, S. D.; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Sullivan of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lavina Newman of Richland, S. D., Rose Hoffman of Washington, D. C; two half-sisters, Mrs. Irene Montange of Sioux City, Mrs. Elizabeth Studer of Springfield, Ill.; one half-brother, Robert Hoffman of Sioux City; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

NOTE: Per SSDI online database, Basil was born 09 Aug 1906; died June 1967. Soc. Security Death Index states he was a long-time or retired railroad worker.
