JOHN THEISEN

John P. Theisen, 88, of Oyens, died Friday (June 17, 1983) at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars after a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine’s Church. Rev. Thomas J. Topf will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday by the parish and at 8:30 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus at the funeral home. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside.

Mr.Theisen was born Sept. 11, 1894, at Holy Cross, Iowa, to John J. and Margaret Lancer Theisen. He married Anna Marie Ruden Oct. 8, 1919, at Oyens. She died Nov. 1, 1965.

They farmed at Farley, Iowa, then in the LeMars and Remsen area. He retired and moved to Oyens in 1956. He served in the U. S. Army in World War I.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Oyens Columbus Club and a former member of the Oyens City Council.

Survivors are four sons, Elmer and Ivan both of Marcus, Reynold of Gary, S.D., and Cyril of Remsen; five daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Terry) Weiler of Remsen, Mrs. Richard (Sally) Henke of Cherokee, Mrs. Dave (Rita) McCarty of Royal, Mrs. Al F. (Shirley) Gengler of LeMars and Lois of Dubuque; a brother, Frank of Edgewood, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Ed Wilgenbusch of Winthrop, Iowa; 86 grandchildren; and 89 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; four grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters.
