ROSELIND LUDWIG, ACCIDENT VICTIM, FUNERAL MONDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph (Roselind) Ludwig, 65, longtime LeMars area resident, were held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens.
Rev. Thomas Topf officiated and burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Remsen, under the direction of the Luedtke Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars.
Christian Mother’s rosary was at 3 p.m. Sunday and the parish rosary was at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ludwig died Friday noon (June 17, 1983) at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars of injuries suffered at 10 a.m. in a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 3 east just outside the LeMars city limits.
The sheriff’s office reported a pickup driven by Joseph Ludwig, 68, collided with a Northwest Iowa Sanitation truck driven by Dennis Fan Voorst, 27, LeMars. Mrs. Ludwig was a passenger in the pickup.
Her death was the first Plymouth County traffic fatality of 1983.
Roselind Zigrang was born Oct. 12, 1917, in America Township to John and Catherine Luttel Zigrang. She was a lifelong rural Oyens resident.
She married Joseph Ludwig April 23, 1941, at St. Catherine’s Church, Oyens. The couple farmed just east of Oyens. She was a member of the Christian Mother’s Society at St. Catherine’s.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Dennis of Chicago, Joe at home and Michael of New York; three daughters, Mrs. Lee (Carol) Wegener, Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Jim (Mary) Rusin, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Tom (Bonnie) Brown, Omaha; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Sister Mary Melania, O.S.F., Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter in infancy.
