Carl J. Oltmanns

Carl J. Oltmanns of Brunsville passed away at his home there on March 25 after a sickness of about five years. He was a retired farmer.

Carl Oltmanns was born December 12, 1870 in Germany and came to the United States at the age of 16 and farmed in Plymouth county until 1930 when he retired and moved to Brunsville.

On February 23, 1898, Tina Pageler and Carl Oltmanns were united in marriage in Grant township, Plymouth county, Iowa. Mr. Oltmanns was 81 years, 3 months and 13 days of age at the time of his death.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 1952, at St. John's American Lutheran church
in Craig at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. A. F. Zenk officiating at last rites. Burial will be in the church cemetery, under direction of Mauer's funeral home in Le Mars.

Survivors include six sons. Otto H., Fred A., and. Charles E., all of Le Mars. Henry J. of Ireton, Elmer W. of Brunsville and Herman J. of Sioux City; one sister. Mrs. Marie Scheldt of Wagner, S. D.; 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife and 3 children. Two children died in infancy and a daughter Mrs. Annie Peters also preceded him in death. Two brothers, one sister and 2 grandchildren also preceded him in death.

He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran church in Brunsville.
