Ronald Ray Williams, 64, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

A Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars will take place at a later date.

The Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars is assisting Ronald's family with funeral arrangements.

Ronald Ray Williams, 64, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

Ronald Ray Williams was born Aug. 17, 1945, in Le Mars, the son of William Sr. and Elizabeth (Wiebersch) Williams. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1964. Ron worked at Vander Meer Bakery in Le Mars for a brief time before enlisting in the United States Navy. Ron served overseas in the Vietnam War, the Philippines and in Italy, as a radioman. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer prior to his honorable discharge March 31, 1986.

Following his military career Ron worked as an airport security guard in Minneapolis, Minn. He returned to Le Mars to spend his retirement years. Ron was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.

He is survived by his sister, LaVonne Matthews and her husband John, of Minneapolis, Minn.; brothers, William Williams Jr. and Art Williams and his wife Betty, all of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Pat Williams, of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Noreen; brothers, Tom and Bob Williams; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Williams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Matt Hewitt will celebrate Mass. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
