Albert D. Lade Jr., 74, of Le Mars, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Sioux City.

Albert Dean Lade was born Aug. 14, 1935, at Sioux City, the son of Albert Lade Sr. and Edna (Ludwigs) Lade. Albert graduated from Hull High School, Hull. In February 1955, Albert enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country on active duty until 1959 when he transferred to the Air Force Reserves, where he served until 1963. Upon his discharge, Albert returned to Le Mars and attended Westmar College where he graduated with a bachelors' degree in business administration.

He was united in marriage to Rosalie Brouillette Dec. 17, 1958, in California.

Albert worked for a number of years in California with electronics in the aviation industry. He then began his career working for Standard Oil as a territory manager in Washington State and later in Minnesota. He later retired from Standard Oil and returned to Mountain View, Calif., where he owned and operated a gas station in the late 1970s. He later sold the station and became a district manager with Midas Muffler Co. for several years. Albert later accepted a position with RSS Marketing as a field representative until his retirement.

The couple returned to Le Mars in 2006.

Albert enjoyed spending time with his five sons and loved to play golf, throw horseshoes and go fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rosalie of Le Mars; five sons, David and Sandee Lade and their children Raschell, Sara, and Heather of Truckee, Calif., Christopher Lade and his children Brittany and Melissa of Sacramento, Calif., Albert Dean Lade III and his children Albert Dean IV "DJ" and Jenna of Beaverton, Ore., Byron Lade of Campbell, Calif., and Aaron and Megan Lade and their children Haley, Macali, and Aris of Incline Village, Nev.; a sister, Carol Russell of Le Mars; two brothers-in-law, Sonny Athens of Le Mars and Richard Brouillette and his wife Nina of Wheatland, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lade Sr. and Edna (Ludwigs) Lade; a brother, Robert Lade; a sister-in-law, Ramonda Athens; and a brother-in-law, Robert Russell.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Carlsen Funeral Home, Le Mars, with the Rev. Tim Geitz of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitations with the family present will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitations will continue Saturday morning at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.
