Hawarden-Wm Eilers. 8o, Hawarden, died Jan. 12 at a Spencer, Iowa nursing home of a brief illness.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 15 in Trinity Lutheran Church at Hawarden. The Rev. Dwight Rengstorf officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden.
Mr. Ellers was born Nov. 16, at Ulm, Ark. He came to the Ireton area in February of 1905. He married Clara DeVries Nov. 26, 1919 at Ireton.
The couple farmed southeast of Hawarden until they retired in 1952 and moved to town. He was a veteran of World War 1. The couple moved to Sheldon in August to live with a son.
Survivors include his widow: two sons, George E. of Sheldon and Lawrence J. of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Louis of Sioux City.
