Anna M. Johnson, 71, lifelong Craig and area resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Aug. 22, 1984) at Floyd Valley Hospital after a day's illness. She was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon.

Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Craig. Rev. Charles Wolff will officiate and burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Craig, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home Le Mars, where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.

Anna M. Popken was born Feb. 15, 1907 at rural Craig to Gerhard and Johanna Minets Popken. She married Onno Johnson. Feb. 17, 1927, at Craig. The couple farmed near Craig until 1958 when they moved to Craig. Mr. Johnson died in 1972.

She was a member of St. John's Church, ALCW and Senior Citizens.

Survivors are a son, Lester Johnson, Le Mars: two daughters, Mrs. Laverne (Velda) Benson, Rapid City, SD and Mrs. Fred (Lucile) Tanner, Hart­ley; two brothers, Ernest and George Popken both of Le Mars; two sisters, Elsie Rohlfs, Le Mars, and Adeline Janssen, Craig; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Melvin, who died in 1978.
