Former Craig Resident Dies
Mrs. Tena Johnson, 82, a long time resident of Craig, passed away unexpectedly in the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Lubben, Monday morning (June 5, 1944). Mrs. Johnson was in apparent good health Decoration Day as she was at Le Mars. Funeral services were held at St. Johnson’s American Lutheran church at Le Mars with Rev. L. L. Belk in charge.
Tena Pereboom was born in Illinois January 16, 1862, and came to this part of the country when a girl She was married to Richard Johnson, March 15, 1883, and for a year they farmed in Illinois and then they returned to Plymouth county. When they retired they moved to Le Mars. She is survived by six children, Herman of Sioux City; William of Coon Rapids; Rev. Meint Johnson of Peru, Illinois; John of Muscatine; Mrs. Fred Beitelspacher of Rockwell City and Mrs. George Lubben of Leeds. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Margaret Pereboom of Ireton.
