Arlene Ellen Kallson, 71, of rural Le Mars, IA, died on Sunday, July 19, 1992, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, IA, following a long illness.

Services were scheduled for Wed­nesday morning, July 22, 1992, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Akron, IA, the Rev­erend Stephanie Sanborn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Active pallbearers were Barry Borchers, Dean Borchers, David Helmrichs, George Kruse, Michael Kruse, Tom Kruse, Dennis Lias, and Geoffrey Price.

Honorary bearers were Jerry Lias,Steven Callahan, Michael Callahan, and Gary Callahan.

Mrs. Kallsen, the former Arlene Ellen Helmrichs, was born July 14, 1921 in rural Akron. the daughter of Henry and Tina (Hartmann) Helmrichs, She attended Center school in Preston Township, and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1940. She taught rural schools for several years. She married Clarence Kallsen at rural Akron on February 12, 1944, and they farmed near Akron and, more recently, near Craig, IA. Mr. Kallsen died on September 11, 1982.

She was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of ELCW and taught Sunday school for 25 years.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Dan See of Fort Dodge, IA; a granddaughter, Rachel See of Fort Dodge; one brother and sister-in-law, LuVerne and Violet Helmrichs of rural Ireton, IA.; four sisters-in-law and their spouses, Evelyn Boetger of Le Mars, IA. Phyllis and Pat Callahan of Fillmore, CA, and Lois and Harvey Lias, and Wendell and Norma Jean Borchers, all of Akron; and many other relatives and friends.
