Fred H. Harms, 75, of Le Mars, Iowa, Plymouth County native and lifelong resident, died on Monday, August 6, 1990 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Services were held on Thursday afternoon, August 9, 1990, at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township, the Reverend Jack Hebbard officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Maurer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars.

Mr. Harms was born to Siebelt and Eta Lubben Harms on March 31, 1915, in Grant Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and married Emma A. Kleihauer there on February 17, 1938.

He retired from farming in 1953, and carpentered until May of 1990. He was a member and office-holder at Grant Church, and a member of the Le Mars Eagles.

Survivors are his wife, Emma, of Le Mars; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lanny H and Bonnie, and Dennis and Patti, all of Le Mars; two daughters and sons-in-law, Geneva and Marvin DeVos and Jean and Randy Jelken, all of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Katherine Harms of Ireton; a brother-in-law, Oscar Asmussen of Le Mars; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jergen and Harm; a sister, Marie Asmussen and a grandson, Scott DeVos
