Onno H. Johnson, 84, of Hawarden, died Saturday, December 5, in a care center in Hawarden.

Services were Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township with the Rev. Jack Hebard officiating. Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden.

Johnson was born August 10, 1903, near Ireton, and moved with his family as a child to a farm northeast of Hawarden. He married Mary Klave April 7, 1928, in Nebraska. The couple farmed on the family farm until 1940 when they moved to a farm in Grant Township in rural Le Mars. They retired in 1984 and moved to Hawarden.

For 37 years, he and his wife were custodians at Christ Lutheran Church and he was a Sunday school teacher for more than 25 years.

Survivors include his wife and a brother, Elmer “Bud” of Hawarden
