Hawarden Independent, Hawarden, Sioux, Iowa, USA Thursday, March 13, 1986

Marvin Janssen, 49, of rural Le Mars, was pronounced dead on arrival Friday, March 7, 1986, at a Le Mars hospital.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, with Pastor Charles Wolff officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars.

Mr. Janssen was born June 23, 1936, in Plymouth County. He marrid Mary Johnson on Sept. 2, 1962, in Craig. He was a farmer and had been a Plymouth County resident all his life. He had served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was very active in its affairs. He was past president of Farmer's Co-op and served on the Pork Producer's Association Board.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kathy Janssen of Minot, ND, two sons, Greg and Aaron. both of Le Mars; his mother, Mrs. Adeline Janssen of Craig: one brother. Donald of LaMoure, ND; six sisters, Mrs. Harold (Delores) Harms and Mrs. Bev Hultquist. both of Brunsville, Mrs. Tony (Della) Brouillette of Le Mars, Mrs. Richard (JoAnn) Korvarna of Merrill, Betty Janssen of Aurora, CO. and Mrs. Allen (Barb) Hamersma of Alcester, SD.

Plymouth County officials reported the death was an apparent suicide.
