Frieda Henrietta Popken, 75, long time Plymouth county resident, died Tuesday (May 6, 1969) at Floyd Valley hospital after an illness of several months.

She was born Nov. 11, 1893, in Jever, Germany. and came to the United States and to LeMars in 1912. She had resided in LeMars since. Her parents were the late Henry and Frieda Rieke Held Popken.

Funeral services were last Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. John Anterican Lutheran church. Rev. Arnold Imbrock and Rev. Paul Tobiason officiated and burial was in LeMars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors are a son, Wallace Popken, Sioux City; two daughters. Mrs. Dorothy Kaufmann and Mrs. Lois Ream. both of Sioux City; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a brother, Fred Popken, Akron and five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Mrs. Marie VanderHam and Mrs. Herbert (Augusta) Buehre, all of Akron; Anna Popken and Mrs. Alfred (Martha) Molzen, both of LeMars.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Otto, and a child in infancy.

Mrs. Popken was a member of St. John American Lutheran church.
