VERNON F. ROSSOW, WELL KNOWN AKRON MORTICIAN DEAD AT THE AGE OF 64

Vernon F. Rossow, 64, widely-known Akron mortician, died Thursday morning, Jan. 10, after suffering a heart attack. He operated the Rossow Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Rossow was born Aug. 28, 1898, at Lohrville, Iowa, and was married to Dorothy Reynolds, June 10, 1921. They came to Akron in June 1921 and Mr. Rossow became associated with Klauer Brothers Furniture and Undertaking. He established his own funeral home in 1935.

He was a member of the Akron Masonic Lodge, Methodist church, and served on the Akron School Board and the City Council for many years.

He also had charge of the city park at Akron for a number of years until his death.

Survivors are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Norma Lockwood of Ponca, Neb.; a son, Gordon of LaPorte City; a brother, Harold, of Lohrville; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Methodist church in Akron. Rev. Donald Roberts officiated. Burial was in the family plot at Lohrville.
