Mrs. John J Winterfeld
Funeral services for Mrs. John J. Winterfeld were held Saturday, December 28, at 1:15 at the family home and in the Peace Lutheran church at two o’clock with Rev. C. J. Rebelein officiating. Interment was made in Peace Lutheran cemetery. Mrs. Winterfeld died Sunday, December 21 at the age of 87 years, five months and seven days.
Emma Baack was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, July 13, 1865. She came to America at the age of 17. She was married to John J. Winterfeld April 6, 1888. He preceded her in death June 9, 1952. They farmed 8 miles south of Rock Valley for 52 years and retired 12 years ago coming to Rock Valley to live. Fourteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Winterfeld, one of whom, Albert, died in 1940.
She is survived by six sons: George, Julius and Ernest of Forest Grove, Oregon, Charles of Rock Rapids, Emil of Sioux Center and John of Verndale, Minnesota, the daughters surviving are Mrs. R. A. Hamann, Clear Lake, S.D., Mrs. Henry Rockman, Marshall, Minnesota, Mrs. Charles Klohs, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. August Groth and Mrs. Herman Vogel, both of Pipestone, Minnesota, Mrs. Arthur Gray of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mrs. John Landhuis of Rock Valley.
She is survived by 32 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
