Luverne Peck Dies at Age 53

Funeral services for Luverne Peck, 53, who died Saturday (January 27, 1962) at the Hawarden Hospital after a lingering illiness, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afernoon at the Methodist church. Rev. C. E. Custer officiating. Hal Shoemaker as soloist was accompanied by Mrs. Shoemaker.

Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.

Casket bearers included James McCarthy, Jim Beck, Bud Rahn, Tom Burke, Fritz Beek and Hellmuth Schwiesow.

Mr. Peck was born September 11, 1908, at Sioux City. He married Olive Marie Kaskey(Caskey) at Elk Point on July 31,1928.

They resided in Akron, Iowa and Blair, Neb., before coming to Hawarden in 1945.

Mr. Peck, an employee of McCarthy Implement company, was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Johannsen of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Eunice Pulscher of Hawarden, a son, Sgt. Armond Peck who is stationed with the United States Army in France and arrived before the death of his father; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel King of LeMars and Mrs. Sareba Stinton of Ashland, Neb.; a grandmother, Mrs. Cora Lewis of Napa, Calif. and five grandchildren.
