Fred Eiesland, 56, of Brainerd, Minn., died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Fred was born Jan. 14, 1953, at Canton, S.D., the son of Aaron and Alice Eiesland. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1971. He attended Westmar College in Le Mars, graduating in 1975.

He married Linda Fellman, Sept. 1, 1973, in Pipestone, Minn. They moved to the Brainerd area in 1975.

His life experiences include working with people with various disabilities, co-owning a resort, owning Tower Pizza, working in human resources, and working with DNR in wild fire suppression.

He was a very active member in the Heritage Assembly of God Church.

Two great joys in his life include serving 24 years on the Brainerd Fire Department, retiring as a battalion chief, and his and Linda's love of motorcycling the county roads. He was a member of the Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club. His last days were spent on a "manly" motorcycle trip with one of his best friends. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Fred loved people and had an amazing ability to make any acquaintance a friend.

Fred lived his life for Christ, loved his family, Linda, Carrie and hubby Chris Studer, Benjamin and wife Ryan, Nathan and wife Alissa; Papa's grandbabies, Ellie, Lorna, Alex, Maguire and Laney; his parents, Aaron and Alice; his brothers, Scott (Doreen), Tim (Lori), Terry (Nancy), Tom (Julie); and 17 nephews and nieces.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Heritage Assembly of God Church, in Brainerd, with the Rev. Mark Boone officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Heritage Assembly of God Church.

Arrangements are with the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Brainerd.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be sent to Samaritan's Purse providing clean water for those in need globally and disaster relief in the U.S.
