FRED E. EARNEST

Fred E. Earnest, LeMars barber retired, passed away April 1, 1956, at Sacred Heart Hospital following a long sickness. He had been hospitalized for one week.

Mr. Earnest was born July 17, 1873, at Wilkes Buree, Penn. He came to Plymouth county at the age of 9 and lived at Remsen and Oyens. He came to LeMars in 1918. He was a partner with his brother in the Earnest Brothers Shop in LeMars since that time, retiring in 1952 after 60 years of barbering. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Earnest was married to Katherine Galles on June 21, 1898, at Remsen. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in LeMars at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, with Rev. James D. Ransom officiating. Burial will be in the LeMars City Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine; two sons, Glen H. Earnest of Harlan; Earl W. Earnest of Webster City; a granddaughter, Mrs. Don Hansen of Omaha; a grandson, Fredrick Earnest of Harlan; a great grandson, Dennis Lee Hansen of Omaha; four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Galles and Mrs. George Kramer, both of Remsen; Mrs. Frank Hewicker and Mrs. Theodore Treninen, both of Marcus; a brother, Charles L. Earnest of LeMars. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters and one brother.
