Dwayne H. Ramert, 78, of Lake Benton, Minn., and a former Le Mars and Craig resident, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Tyler Health Care Center in Lake Benton, Minn.

Dwayne H. Ramert was born to Fredrick and Lucille (Deuel) Ramert on July 11, 1931, in New England, N.D. At a young age, he moved with his parents to Worthington, Minn. He received his education in Fulda, Minn. After completing the eighth grade, he worked on his family farm in Ruthton, Minn.

In 1964, he met Bette Cornelson-Lehmann in Pipestone, Minn, and in 1965, they were united in marriage. In August 1967, after working for Rudy Holmberg as a farm hand, Dwayne and Bette moved to Le Mars, where he worked for Wells' Dairy. In 1987, they moved to Craig, and he continued working for Wells' Dairy until his retirement in 1993.

In September 1998, Dwayne and Bette moved to their lake home on Lake Benton, Minn. On April 1, 2009, he was diagnosed with cancer.

Dwayne was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton, Minn.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting. He was an avid fisherman and vegetable gardener, and enjoyed rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

His family will miss his infamous baked bread, and chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Bette of Lake Benton, Minn.; his sons, Gary Ramert and his wife Debi of Parker, Colo., and Ronnie Ramert of Lynd, Minn.; his daughter, Kathy Ramert-Janssen and her husband Jim of Minneota, Minn.; three step-daughters, Dyann Foster and her husband Brian of Deport, Texas, Renae Strand and her husband Julius of Le Mars, and Donna Lehmann of Bloomington, Ind.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; his cat, Tabitha; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Lucille Ramert; his sister, Betty Wright; his twin brother, Dale Ramert; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Ramert.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton. Interment will be in St. Genevieve Catholic Cemetery in Lake Benton. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home, Utoft-Johansen Chapel in Lake Benton. Visitation will continue at the church Monday one hour prior to the service.
