EMMETSBURG, Iowa -- Betty Iola Watts, 75, of Emmetsburg died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Emmetsburg Care Center.

Services were held Tuesday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg, where the Rev. James Morris officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Joyce Funeral Home and Crematory in Emmetsburg.

Betty Iola Rasmussen was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Thyra (Cagley) Rasmussen. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.

On Feb. 25, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Robert Watts in Sioux City. The couple farmed near Rodman, Iowa, before moving to Emmetsburg in 1963. Betty became the office manager and bookkeeper for Emmetsburg Publishing Co., retiring in 1979, after 16 years of service.

She was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational in Emmetsburg, Order of the Eastern Star and Pythian Sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Goeders and her husband, Mike of Emmetsburg; a sister, Darlene Rasmussen of South Sioux City; three brothers, Gary of Dakota City, Wayne of Sioux City, and Niel of Franklin, Ky.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a son, Mark; and two brothers, Clarence and Robert.

Pallbearers were Aaron, Denny, Leo, Joe and George Goeders and Jared Spaeth.
